Blandine Emilien<\/strong> & Catherine Lemercier<\/strong> Co-directed by Blandine \u00c9milien (<\/strong>UQAM), professor at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al and coresearcher in CRIMT’s Partnership project on Institutional Experimentation for Better Work, Promised land<\/strong> is a short documentary (freely available on Vimeo<\/a><\/span>) that presents and contextualizes narratives of temporary foreign workers who work in the slaughterhouses of Quebec\u2019s food processing industry.

Created within a film-based sociological approach, the documentary emanates from an explorative project that follows the recruitment process of temporary foreign workers, which has become a Quebec social phenomenon over the past decades. The project also includes the input of students who helped raise the interview questions used for the exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n
