Le CRIMT a le plaisir de vous inviter à participer à un webinaire public sur le nouveau livre de Ian Greer (ILR School, Cornell University) et Charles Umney (Leeds University) intitulé Marketization. How Capitalist Exchange Disciplines Workers and Subverts Democracy (Londres : Bloomsbury, 2022). Le livre examine comment l’État et le capital utilisent les marchés pour discipliner la classe ouvrière. Les auteurs fournissent un aperçu complet de l’économie politique européenne, de la Commission européenne au lieu de travail proprement dit, pour montrer comment les principes néolibéraux se traduisent en mécanismes de marché et remodèlent la vie des travailleurs et travailleuses. Lors d’un échange informel avec les auteurs, Étienne Cantin (Université Laval), Philippe Pochet (ETUI) et Valeria Pulignano (KU Leuven) exposeront les principaux enseignements qu’ils tirent du livre. Vincent Pasquier (HEC Montréal) agira en tant que facilitateur de cette discussion. 

Ce webinaire aura lieu sur Zoom, le lundi 6 mars à 12h00, heure de Montréal. Aucune inscription préalable n’est requise ; il suffira de se présenter à la date et à l’heure prévues.

Le webinaire se déroulera en anglais, mais une assistance linguistique sera fournie aux participant.e.s qui souhaiteront faire des commentaires ou poser des questions en français. Il sera également enregistré pour diffusion en différé.

CRIMT is pleased to invite you to attend a public webinar on Ian Greer (ILR School, Cornell University) and Charles Umney’s (Leeds University) new book Marketization. How Capitalist Exchange Disciplines Workers and Subverts Democracy (London: Bloomsbury, 2022). The book examines how the state and capital use markets to discipline the working class, providing a comprehensive overview of the European political economy, from the European Commission to the workplace, to show how neoliberal principles translate into market mechanisms and reshape the lives of workers.
 
In an informal exchange with the authors, Étienne Cantin (Université Laval), Philippe Pochet (ETUI) and Valeria Pulignano (KU Leuven) will discuss their main take-aways from the book. Vincent Pasquier (HEC Montréal) will act as facilitator for this discussion. 
 
This webinar will take place on Zoom, on Monday March 6th at 12:00, Montreal time. No advance registration required ; simply to show up on the scheduled date and time.
 
It will take place in English, but linguistic facilitation will be provided for webinar participants who want to comment or ask questions in French. It will also be recorded for further dissemination.
